During the days of my recruitment to CWRU, the Department and Institute pulled out all the stops. An impressive part of the process included spending a day touring Cleveland with two women from Executive Arrangements, Inc. At first I equated them with the Welcome Wagon, but I soon found out that they were oh so much more. Through them, I learned a lot about Cleveland including the history, the neighborhoods, sports, arts, and, of course, the food scene. It was obvious that they had done their homework on each of the CWRU recruits as every tour and Cleveland information package was tailored to the individual.
For my tour, we spent a lot of time exploring Tremont and Ohio City. My previous neighborhood was considered an in-town mixed use area sprinkled with great restaurants and local businesses. As I have previously posted, Tremont and Ohio City have great restaurants, so this seemed the logical place for Executive Arrangements, Inc. to take me for lunch.
Lucky for me, Executive Arrangements, Inc. took me to Fat Cats, a local restaurant in Tremont that serves brunch, lunch and dinner. I hear they also have a nice happy hour that complements their selection of small plates already on the menu. I have only been once, but that one time made an impression on me. The interior is a laid back and fun old house, and I remember the food was quite good. I don’t remember exactly what I had, though (the salmon?). Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture of my meal that day---I had only met these ladies, so I didn’t want to appear rude! I couldn’t help but take a picture of the sign, though (Figure). I suppose old habits die hard.
